Transrobota

transRobota – the 7th Baltic Biennale of Contemporary Art
August 3rd to September 9th  2007 at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Szczecin.

The final phase of the project transRobota, planned as an artistic intervention in the post-industrial area of the Łasztownia Peninsula in Szczecin, will be executed as an exhibition at the National Museum in Szczecin, featuring art works by 17 international artists:

Kuba Bąkowski (PL), Heman Chong & Saim Demircan (Sing,GB), Markus Draper (D), Roland Fuhrmann (D), Eva Hertzsch & Adam Page (D,GB), Laura Horelli (FIN), Tilman Küntzel (D), Maciej Kurak (PL), Agnes Meyer-Brandis (D), Ulrike Mohr (D), Oliver Ressler (A), Otmar Sattel (D), Anne Peschken & Marek Pisarsky (D), Julita Wójcik (PL)

“This is not a site-specific exhibition!” is the collective comment of the artists, who are showing more or less transformed versions of ideas that where originally developed specifically for Łasztownia.

The area, in all its beauty, dilapidation, decay and transition, will be re-created in a three-dimensional animation, showing the context that inspired the artists via a virtual tour of the industrial area with all the art works and interventions in place.

Apart from this virtual tour, visitors will see art pieces adapted to the National Museum’s gallery space.

In a broader context, questions concerning the transition of labour and current working conditions were a strong focus for a discussion of the future development of Łasztownia. And this aspect of the artists’ pursuits is transferred into the Museum context.
